Choosing the perfect month for your family photo session can feel like a big decision. There really is no WRONG month to book... unless you want an outdoor newborn session in February. I offer indoor sessions for those!

Truth is, every season brings its own beauty—and its own challenges! Pennsylvania has some gorgeous landscapes... and can also throw a pretty mean rain or snowstorm at ya some times. It's unpredictable!

Whether you’re dreaming of blooming flowers, golden summer light, or cooler breezes, I’m breaking down the best and worst features of each month between February and August to help you pick the perfect time for your photo session here in Lebanon county, PA.

❄️February: Winter’s Last Hurrah

Best Features:

  • Crisp, soft winter light—perfect for dreamy, moody photos.
  • Cozy outfits with layers, scarves, and stylish winter vibes.
  • Less crowded locations since most people are hibernating.
  • Bare trees and honey-brown landscapes (with the right outfit you will REALLY POP in that environment).

Challenges:

  • It’s cold—which can mean red noses and chilly kiddos.
  • Unpredictable weather—snow, rain, or just plain dreary skies--although snow makes for some VERY pretty pictures!

Best for: Families who love cozy vibes, soft lighting, and don’t mind bundling up!

  • Warmer days start to sneak in, making outdoor sessions more comfortable.
  • Great lighting without the harsh summer sun.

Challenges:

  • Weather is wildly unpredictable—one day warm, the next freezing.
  • Trees and grass may still look a bit drab depending on the location.
  • Wind can be a problem (hello, hair flying everywhere!).
  • Can be muddy in some spots because of rain and melting snow.

Best for: Families who want a transition into spring look and don’t mind taking a weather gamble!
