Here’s the truth: it’s usually not the kids who struggle during a session—it’s the parents! Even when kids are being mischievous, they’re still adorable. But parents? Stress shows.

So when your little one gets a case of the wiggles (and they will), lean in. Laugh. Act like they’re doing the cutest thing ever. Instead of getting frustrated, turn it into a game. If your toddler runs away, chase them and scoop them up. If they’re being silly, roll with it.

Trust me, your photos will thank you. And so will your kiddo—most of the time, they’ll start laughing and join in on the fun.

In the weeks leading up to your session, make a mental note of what gets them giggling. Jot down a few funny phrases or inside jokes to whisper in their ear during the shoot. (Pro tip: Dads love this job!)
