It's Musical Season!
There is something undeniably magical about a high school musical.
The lights dim. The overture begins. And for a few hours, you’re transported — not to Broadway — but to a stage right here in our own community.
If you’re in or near Lebanon County, PA (or just a short drive away), the coming weeks are packed with incredible productions. And here’s the best part:
High school musicals are one of the most affordable ways to invest in your community, see an excellent show, and support young actors who are pouring their hearts into their craft.
Why This Matters to Me
When I was asked to be the photographer for New Covenant Christian School's musical in 2023 (the Newsies!), I had no idea how much I would fall in love with this line of photography.
It's truly incredible to get to know these young actors and watch their progress over weeks of rehearsal — seeing nerves turn into confidence, tentative choreography turn into muscle memory — all culminating in opening night.
Since then, I have been blown away by the level of talent we have in our little county. Genuinely blown away.
Sitting in the audience at Lebanon High School’s production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame last year had me blubbering and feeling like I had just witnessed a Broadway-level performance.
So this year, I’ve committed to attending as many musicals as possible.
And I thought you might like a list of what’s coming up.

Real Talk for a Sec
Most of these tickets range from $10–$15.
You would easily spend more than that at the movies — and that doesn’t even include popcorn.
For the cost of a casual dinner out, you can:
- Support young performers who have been rehearsing for months
- Encourage technical crew members learning lighting, sound, and set design
- Affirm directors and music teachers investing deeply in their students
- Strengthen the arts in our local schools
High school musicals are not “less than” professional theatre.
They are raw.
They are passionate.
They are brave.
And sometimes? They are shockingly, breathtakingly good.
If you’ve never gone — this is your year.
If you’ve only ever attended when you knew a cast member — go anyway.
Buy the ticket. Sit in the audience. Applaud loudly.
Our county is full of extraordinary young talent.
I’ll be there as often as I can — probably with tissues in hand.
Maybe I’ll see you in the lobby. 🎭
I'm Naomi
Naomi is a Lebanon County photographer who loves stories in all their forms — especially the kind that unfold on a stage. After photographing her first school musical in 2023, she completely fell in love with the world of student theatre — the nerves, the friendships, the growth, and the electric energy of opening night. She’s been blown away by the talent in our local schools ever since.
When she’s not in the audience cheering (and predictably tearing up), she’d absolutely love to be behind the camera capturing even more of these incredible productions in the years to come.
